Puslinch, Ontario - May 19, 2009 – Forterra Environmental Corp. (TSX-V: FTE-V), an emerging leader in the production and sale of premium organic soil-enrichment products based on worm castings, today announced that it has received its first order for worm castings from Lambert Peat Moss Inc.
Lambert Peat Moss, founded in 1928 and based in Rivere-Ouelle, Quebec, is one of three major peat moss and horticultural peat mix producers in North America.
“Lambert’s initial order is for 12 totes (approximately 12,000 pounds) of worm castings, which it will be using for blending with its peat moss products to determine the most effective mixes for its customers,” said Rick Denyes, Forterra’s president and chief operating officer.
“We understand that Lambert initially intends to use Forterra’s worm castings in its rose shrub and tree mix products that it sells in the U.S. retail market, as well as in other mixes for greenhouse growers. Developing a relationship with Lambert will open up new market opportunities for Forterra. For example, this will be the first time that Forterra’s product is included in mixes sold to retail customers in the United States. As previously disclosed, we also have sold product to a number of other major national and regional service companies and manufacturers of finished product. These companies are currently carrying out trials that will last for some months and that we hope will lead to orders that most likely would mainly begin in 2010,” said Mr. Denyes.
“We understand that once Lambert has tested and determined the mixes that it will market, the company intends to place additional orders in 2009 for Forterra’s worm castings. We are pleased that our discussions with Lambert have led to this order, which we are hopeful is the beginning of a long-term, mutually beneficial relationship,” said Mr. Denyes.
“For more than 90 years, Lambert’s success has been based on providing professional and amateur growers with quality products that meet their growing requirements,” said Eric Blondeau, B.Sc.A., Laboratory Manager for Lambert. “We have a history of developing new products that offered enhanced capabilities or meet new needs that our customers have brought to us. This includes the growing demand for environmentally friendly, organic soil enrichment products for which we will be using Forterra’s worm castings.”

About Forterra Environmental Corp.
Forterra manufactures and markets environmentally friendly soil enhancers, using worm castings, which boost fertility while restoring the soil with organic matter for sustainable, longer-term benefits, including stronger root growth, and drought and pest resistance. Forterra products contain only organic material. They are ideal for golf courses, sports fields, lawn care, parks, nurseries, orchards, and vineyards. Essentially, Forterra uses red wriggler worms to convert organic material into vermicompost or worm castings. Worm castings contain micronutrients, which are required for healthy plant development. Worm castings also contain microbes, which increase the rate at which plants take up available macronutrients and micronutrients.
